January 8 UPDATE
Yesterday, the province announced that elementary schools across Ontario will be closed until January 25th. While we know elementary students and staff were eager to be back to in-person learning, this decision was made to keep students, staff and our community safe.
Students and Staff are engaging in remote on-line learning through their classes' D2L or Google Classroom.
Welcome to Cherrywood Acres Public School!
Cherrywood Acres was originally built in 1964 with 7 classrooms and a playroom. By 1965, the school was so full that an addition of 7 more classrooms, a library and playroom was planned. This addition was finished in 1967 and the school was double the size. The name originally came from the fact that the property was at one time a cherry orchard. Now the school backs onto a City of Niagara Falls park with a play structure, baseball diamond and a soccer field.
At present, there are about 230 students, Kindergarten through Grade 8, attending our school with 26 staff members supporting our students. Our school has 10 classrooms, learning commons, movement room and gym. We partner with A Child's World who provide before and after child care programming for students who attend our school. To obtain information about their program please call 289 697-5678 or e mail cherrywood@acw.on.ca for further information.
We are pleased to provide an outstanding education for our students. Progressive programs for our students are delivered by our dedicated and professional staff who care about your child.
The District School Board of Niagara is focused on developing and growing Literacy and Math achievement and creating an environment to support well-being, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
Our school strives to provide programs to
address the needs of all our students, and our
students participate in experiences and opportunities
that encourage the development of excellence, integrity
and respect.
Community partnerships and parent involvement are crucial to the successful education for all of our students. We welcome you to our school!
